Deep Root Fertilization on the Northshore

Your trees are struggling because the soil beneath them is empty. Deep root fertilization gets nutrients where they actually need to go. Deep into the root zone where your trees can use them.

Deep Root Fertilization Overview

Most trees in yards and urban areas are starving. Not because there’s no soil around them, but because the soil has nothing in it. You can throw granules on top all day and nothing changes. Deep root fertilization is different.

We use specialized equipment to inject a nutrient blend directly into the soil where your tree’s feeder roots actually live. That’s roughly 5 inches down, throughout the whole root zone under the canopy and often beyond it. The nutrients go exactly where they need to go, not sitting on top waiting to wash away.

When nutrients reach the roots, the tree can absorb them immediately and put them to work. That’s when you see actual improvement. Leaves fill in, growth accelerates, the tree starts looking like itself again.

Why Deep Root Fertilization Is Important

Urban soils and compacted yards are basically dead. The minerals and nutrients have been stripped out or never existed. Trees growing in these conditions slowly decline. They get smaller leaves, weaker branches, and eventually they just stop. Deep root fertilization addresses the root cause, literally.

Nutrients Go Where They're Needed

Surface fertilizer gets absorbed by lawn grass or washed away by rain. Deep injection puts everything into the root zone where only your tree can access it. No waste, no runoff, results you can see.

Loosens Compacted Soil

Compaction is a killer for urban trees. Hard soil means roots can't move, can't grow, can't feed. When you inject nutrients and organic matter deep, it helps break up that compaction and gives roots breathing room.

Faster Results Than Surface Treatment

A struggling tree bounces back visibly after a deep root fertilization treatment. You'll see new growth, fuller canopy, better color. One treatment delivers months of benefit.

Why This Works Better Than DIY

Most homeowners try granular fertilizer and wonder why nothing changes. It’s because that approach doesn’t work for trees. Here’s the difference.

Surface Applications Don't Reach Roots

You scatter fertilizer around the tree base and water it in. The lawn absorbs most of it. What makes it into the soil washes away with the next rain. Your tree gets almost nothing.

Professional Injection Is Targeted

We place nutrients at the exact depth where feeder roots live. Everything gets absorbed. Nothing is wasted on surface applications or runoff.

Organic Matter Improves Soil Structure

We're not just adding nutrients. We're adding organic material that helps compacted soil loosen up. This gives roots room to expand and access water and oxygen better.

Hi, I'm Ladson Poole

After leaving a career in corporate sales, Ladson stumbled into arboriculture and quickly fell in love. This year is ArborWorks’ fourth year in business and we plan to continue to serve Mandeville, Covington and the surrounding area for years to come.

What our customers say

We bought our property 8 years ago and the biggest appeal was the beautiful live oaks. We wanted a certified arborist, not just a tree guy, and that’s how we found Ladson with ArborWorks. We really appreciated all the knowledge Ladson has about the trees. They’ve done several jobs and we definitely recommend them to everyone.

Rodriguez Residence

We are very happy with what ArborWorks did for us. We have live oaks that had been neglected for decades, so we did selective pruning instead of straight tree removal. Ladson gave us great tips on tree care and they also left zero footprint after removing hurricane-damaged pine trees. We would definitely recommend them to absolutely anybody.

Guinchard Residence

We had a tree fall down in our backyard after one of the storms. We were looking for a company that was certified and licensed and we found ArborWorks. From the start to the finish they were very professional and courteous. You could not tell that they had been in our backyard after they removed the tree – there were no ruts and everything looks wonderful.
