Tree Fertilization Services

Most Northshore homeowners assume their trees are getting what they need from the soil, but that’s rarely the full picture. Between the naturally sandy soils in parts of St. Tammany Parish, alkaline conditions that lock out key nutrients, and the constant removal of fallen leaves and organic matter from yards, trees here are often running on a deficit without any obvious signs until the damage is already done.

ArborWorks takes a targeted approach to Northshore tree fertilization. We start by assessing your trees and, when needed, testing the soil to identify specific deficiencies rather than guessing. From there, we apply slow-release fertilizers designed to feed your trees gradually over time, supporting strong root development, healthy canopy growth, and better resistance to the pests and diseases common to our region.

Why Tree Fertilization Matters

A tree that looks fine on the outside can still be struggling. Pale leaves, stunted growth, and dead branch tips are all signs that something is missing in the soil. Left unaddressed, nutrient deficiencies weaken trees over time, making them more vulnerable to insects, disease, and storm damage. Fertilization is not about pushing fast growth. It is about giving your trees what they need to stay genuinely healthy for the long haul.

Root Strength

Proper fertilization builds deep, well-established root systems. Strong roots are the foundation of a stable tree, and they are what determine whether your tree holds up through years of wet summers, drought, and hurricane season.

Pest & Disease Resistance

Strategic storm preparation dramatically reduces the risk of trees damaging your roof, vehicles, fencing, or power lines, potentially saving thousands in emergency repairs and insurance deductibles.

Long-Term Canopy Health

Consistent, well-timed fertilization keeps foliage thick and vibrant season after season. It extends the life of your trees and protects the landscape investment you have built over years.

Soil Testing & Custom Nutrient Programs

Not every tree needs the same thing, and applying the wrong nutrients in the wrong amounts can actually cause more harm than doing nothing at all. That is why ArborWorks does not take a one-size-fits-all approach. For trees showing signs of stress or decline, we recommend a soil test before any fertilizer is applied. The results tell us exactly what is deficient and what is already present in excess, so we can build a program around what your specific trees actually need.

We pay close attention to placement as well. Nutrients need to reach the active root zone, which extends well beyond the trunk and out to the edge of the canopy. Applying fertilizer too close to the base, or in the wrong concentration, wastes product and can stress the root system. Our team knows how to do this correctly, and we treat every job with the same level of care regardless of the size of the property.

Northshore Tree Fertilization

ArborWorks is dedicated to keeping your trees healthy and your property looking its best. Give your trees the nutrients they need before small problems turn into costly ones.

Proper Diagnosis First

We assess your trees and soil before recommending any treatment, so you never pay for fertilization your trees do not actually need.

Slow-Release Applications

We use professional-grade, slow-release fertilizers that feed your trees consistently over time rather than dumping nutrients all at once.

ISA Certified Arborists

Our team brings real arboricultural training to every job. Tree fertilization done right requires understanding how trees grow, not just how to spread product on the ground.

About Us & Our Expertise

ArborWorks has spent years working with the trees of the Northshore, and that experience shows in how we approach fertilization. The soil conditions in St. Tammany and Tangipahoa parishes are not the same as what you find in other parts of the country. We know the local tree species, the common deficiencies in our area, and the timing that works best given our climate. That local knowledge is what separates a fertilization program that actually produces results from one that simply looks good on paper.

We work on residential & commercial properties from Covington and Mandeville to Madisonville and beyond. Whether you have a single live oak showing signs of stress or a full property of mature trees you want to keep in peak condition, we handle the assessment, the application, and the follow-up honestly and without overselling. We are fully licensed and insured, so you can feel confident from the first visit to the last.

Hi, I'm Ladson Poole

Owner | ISA Certified Arborist

After leaving a career in corporate sales, Ladson stumbled into arboriculture and quickly fell in love. This year is ArborWorks’ fourth year in business and we plan to continue to serve Mandeville, Covington and the surrounding area for years to come.

What our customers say

We bought our property 8 years ago and the biggest appeal was the beautiful live oaks. We wanted a certified arborist, not just a tree guy, and that’s how we found Ladson with ArborWorks. We really appreciated all the knowledge Ladson has about the trees. They’ve done several jobs and we definitely recommend them to everyone.

Rodriguez Residence

We are very happy with what ArborWorks did for us. We have live oaks that had been neglected for decades, so we did selective pruning instead of straight tree removal. Ladson gave us great tips on tree care and they also left zero footprint after removing hurricane-damaged pine trees. We would definitely recommend them to absolutely anybody.

Guinchard Residence

We had a tree fall down in our backyard after one of the storms. We were looking for a company that was certified and licensed and we found ArborWorks. From the start to the finish they were very professional and courteous. You could not tell that they had been in our backyard after they removed the tree – there were no ruts and everything looks wonderful.
